"Je m'appelle Dario Argento. Je suis né à Rome, au 197, via del Tritone. A cette adresse il y avait le Studio Luxardo, un important studio de photographie, où travaillait ma mère Elda. Habitaient également là les propriétaires et fondateurs de cette prestigieuse entreprise, Alfredo et Margherita, mes grands-parents. Dans les années 1930 et 1940 les vedettes du théâtre et du cinéma, les champions sportifs, les intellectuels et les artistes, les modèles se bousculaient pour être photographiés par nous. Avoir un portrait réalisé par le studio était un signe d'excellence. Je suis donc né sous les projecteurs."
