Sa passion de cinéphile pour le septième art s'exprime aussi dans sa prose, avec des clins d'œil à Hitchcock, Gregory Peck et Titanic de James Cameron. Son imaginaire croise les routes de Sam Shepard, Cate Blanchett, Martin Scorsese, le Joker et Stephen Frears. Alors que Jean-Luc Godard lui rend hommage au fil de sa filmographie, Todd Haynes démontre l'impossibilité de dresser son portrait biographique avec I'm Not There. Bob Dylan, au cinéma comme ailleurs, est toujours là où on s'y attend le moins, déroulant une étincelante série de rêves.
