Son visage a servi de modèle à la méchante reine de Blanche-Neige. Sa rivalité légendaire avec Bette Davis a inspiré la série Feud. Sa relation avec sa fille adoptive a fait l'objet d'un film qui lui a valu d'être classée parmi les « 50 plus grands méchants de l'histoire du cinéma »... Joan Crawford est devenue le symbole absolu du côté sombre d'Hollywood. Malgré une filmographie qui va du cinéma muet jusqu'aux débuts d'un certain Steven Spielberg, on ne la voit plus que comme un monstre. Elle était certes connue pour son ambition dévorante, mais ses sourcils sévères cachaient une vive inquiétude, celle de voir sa carrière d'actrice s'éteindre avec l'âge. Il est temps de jeter un peu de lumière sur la face sombre de l'énigme Joan Crawford.
