Les dialogues de 3 films majeurs de l'enfant terrible du cinéma allemand. Maman Küsters apprend que son mari, ouvrier dans une usine chimique, s'est suicidé après avoir tué son patron. La presse à scandales harcèle la veuve. Pression médiatique, conflits de classe et engagement politique s'entremêlent avec brio dans ce drame. Franz, jeune homme d'origine modeste, gagne une importante somme d'argent au loto. Il s'entiche alors d'Eugen, jeune bourgeois aux goûts de luxe. Eugen usera de ses charmes pour lui inculquer les bonnes manières tout en pillant sa fortune, menant ainsi Franz à sa perte. Emmi, veuve d'une soixantaine d'années, rencontre Ali, jeune immigré, dans un café. Il s'installe chez elle dès le lendemain et ils se marient. Leur romance à contrecourant scandalise l'Allemagne des années 70. Comment cette relation résistera-t-elle à l'intolérance et aux préjugés ?
