« Once upon a time in Hollywood » : il est rare de procéder à la « monographie » d'un bâtiment, surtout lorsqu'il situe à Los Angeles le Bradbury Building (1893), un monument historique inspiré de l'École de Chicago mais devenu, un siècle plus tard, l'icône « rétro-futuriste » de Blade Runner, la dystopie urbaine de Ridley Scott (1982)... Pourtant, l'appartement du généticien J. F. Sebastian où se réfugie Pris, la prostituée réplicante, est aussi l'adresse d'une séquence de Chinatown (1974) et de bien d'autres films noirs, clips de rap ou supports de pop culture. Une coupe s'immisce alors entre fiction et réalité, glissement urbain que ne renieraient ni Jean Baudrillard ni Quentin Tarantino : devant, mais aussi derrière la caméra... Camille Larbey est journaliste, auteur de Berlin mis en scène (2017) et Marlene Dietrich : celle qui avait la voix (2021).
