Scénariste, documentariste et cinéaste autant plébiscité que décrié, Stone a marqué le cinéma hollywoodien par son style expérimental, mais aussi et surtout à travers ses prises de position « coups de poing », pour reprendre une expression qui lui est régulièrement accolée. Nous sommes également allés à la rencontre de ses collaborateurs : le monteur Pietro Scalia, la directrice de casting Risa Bramon Garcia et le scénariste Kieran Fitzgerald. Chacun - à sa manière - apporte un autre éclairage sur la personnalité complexe et fascinante du réalisateur et nous permet de parfaire ce portrait à travers 50 ans de carrière.
