Book Presentation:
Roman Polanski (né en France en 1933), réalisateur, producteur, scénariste et acteur franco-polonais, est aujourd'hui reconnu comme l'un des réalisateurs les plus influents au monde. Après des débuts très remarqués dans les années 1960 (Le Couteau dans l'eau, 1962), il s'est attelé à différents genres : horreur (Rosemary's Baby, 1968), film noir (Chinatown, 1974), drame (Tess, 1979), aventures (Pirates, 1986), et plus récemment film historique (Le Pianiste, 2002) et thriller (The Ghost Writer, 2010). Les films de Polanski traitent principalement de thèmes existentiels, ce qui ne l'empêche pas de cultiver un certain goût pour l'absurde et le grotesque. Il a dirigé certaines des actrices les plus talentueuses de notre époque, notamment Catherine Deneuve, Mia Farrow et Kate Winslet.

Il est l'auteur de plusieurs ouvrages sur le cinéma, notamment The Scorsese Picture: The Art and Life of Martin Scorsese (1992) et Open Secret : Gay Hollywood (1998).
