Un train. Une très belle journée de printemps. Quelqu'un regarde par la fenêtre : " On a le droit de transporter un cercueil dans une bagnole privée ? " Autour, on se tait : un break Peugeot se détache maintenant derrière l'horizon d'un champ de blé, il roule très vite, parallèle au train et parfois tout proche. Derrière le volant, on distingue le visage du conducteur. Un instant de silence. Tous observent l'ombre massive qui obstrue les fenêtres à l'arrière du break et remplit l'espace. Tous observent le cercueil de Jean-Baptiste. Au soir de sa vie, avant de lâcher prise et d'abandonner une existence qui ne l'amusait plus, un homme avait dit, lui qui avait toujours vécu à Paris : "Je veux être enterré à Limoges. " Où ne l'attendait pourtant qu'une ville à laquelle il ne devait rien et qui l'avait ignoré. Il avait ajouté, comme pour s'excuser d'aller s'exiler si loin : ceux qui m'aiment prendront le train. "
