Book Presentation:
Ethan et Joel Coen (nés aux Etats-Unis en 1957 et 1954) figurent parmi les réalisateurs américains les plus créatifs de notre époque. Depuis leur tout premier long-métrage, Sang pour sang (1984), jusqu'au récent True Grit (2010), ils ont toujours assuré ensemble l'écriture, la réalisation et la production de leurs films. Leur style reconnaissable entre tous évolue entre le film noir (Fargo, 1996 ; No Country for Old Men, 2007) et la comédie acerbe (The Big Lebowski, 1998 ; A Serious Man, 2009). Mais au-delà des genres, l'exploration de thèmes récurrents assure la cohérence de leur œuvre : l'Amérique pluriethnique, le judaïsme et la cellule familiale. Parmi les nombreuses récompenses glanées au fil de leur carrière, une Palme d'or a été attribuée à Barton Fink (1991) et quatre Oscars ont été décernés à No Country For Old Men, notamment celui du meilleur film.
