Le film d'Albert Lewin met en scène Pandora, figure mythique de l'Antiquité, de même qu'une jeune femme du même nom d'habitant en Espagne, à Esperanza, qui fait la rencontre du légendaire capitaine du vaisseau fantôme. A partir de ces différents éléments, le réalisateur compose un conte cinématographique complexe, et l'analyse proposée tâche de mette au jour certains sous-entendus symboliques ou mythiques qui jalonnent le récit fantastique, ainsi que de mettre en lumière les grandes lignes qui composent l'écheveau etremelé du scénario. Au-delà et à travers l'écran, à quoi renvoient les reflets de ce film, tant dans le champ des émotions que de l'intellect!
