Book Presentation:
Luchino Visconti était un grand lecteur de la Recherche. Bien qu il ait porté à l'écran d'autres auteurs, le cinéaste du temps n'a pas cherché à dissimuler sa passion pour le chef d'œuvre de Marcel Proust: Certains de ses films comme Le Guépard (1963), Sandra (1965), Mort à Venise (1971), L'Innocent (1976), rencontrent l'univers de Prous par des allusions parfois explicites et par leur esthétique. Cet essai se propose d'analyser ces affinités. ll est accompagné d'un entretien avec Nicole Stephane qui revient sur le projet inabouti de l'adaptation de le Recherche qu il avait l'intention de produire pour Luchino Visconti au début des années 70. Enfin, ce livre contient des dessins réalisés par Eric Van Hove tirés de scènes du film Morte a Venezia.

Peter Kravanja. Doctorant en Cinéma à l'université de Paris III, il a été chargé de cours d'analyse filmique à l'université de Groningen (Pays Bas) et enseigne actuellement l'Histoire du Cinéma à l'Université d'Anvers (Belgique). Il est docteur en Sciences mathématiques appliquées de l'Université Catholique de Leuven (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgique). La traduction italienne de son essai Visconti, lecteur de Proust a obtenu le Prix Una vita per la cultura 2004.
