Book Presentation:
Acteur, réalisateur, producteur, Clint Eastwood, figure indépendante du cinéma hollywoodien, héritier des classiques et vedette du box-office est avant tout mis en lumière dans cet ouvrage comme un personnage dont les caractères se déplient de film en film. Au cours des années 60, ses interprétations dans les westerns de Sergio Leone renouvellent le genre et se consacrent star européenne. Avec le rôle de l'Inspecteur Harry, son personnage s'inscrit dans le contexte de l'Amérique des années 70 qui doute d'elle-même et de sa police. La critique ne voit en ce justicier au dessus des lois qu'un flic fasciste. Mais au fil de la série, les décalages constants et l'humour noir vont déglinguer le prototype aux antipodes de cette interprétation. Dans les westerns qu'il réalise dans les années 80 (Bronco Billy, Pale Rider), il accentue le caractère mystique de son personnage, fantôme d'un cinéma disparu, venu le faire revivre à l'écran. Son dernier film White Hunter, Black Heart où il incarne John Huston marque un nouveau tournant à contre courant de son mythe. Ni héros, ni anti-héros, il se met lui-même en scène dans le fauteuil du réalisateur, hors du champ de la caméra... Clint Eastwood un personnage à suivre.
